Global Insights and Shared Visions: Reflections from IHECON2024 on the Future of Internationalization in Higher Education

Elena Mandaji joined educators and students from around the world at the IHECON2024 conference in Samsun, Turkey, to explore the challenges and opportunities in internationalizing higher education, sharing insights and strategies for global collaboration

During October 25-27, 2024, I had the honor of participating in the international conference IHECON2024, titled "Internationalization in Higher Education: Navigating Global Challenges and Opportunities," organized by Ondokuz Mayıs University in Samsun, Turkey.

Attending this conference was an invaluable opportunity to connect with educators and students from diverse cultural backgrounds, each bringing their vision of internationalization in higher education. It enabled me to expand my knowledge on the subject, represent both my country and institution, and provided a platform to disseminate information about COST Action CA22121: Rising Nationalisms, Shifting Geopolitics, and the Future of European Higher Education and Research Openness (OPEN), of which I am a part.

IHECON2024 offered an in-depth understanding of the challenges and innovative solutions that universities worldwide are implementing in their internationalization strategies. I want to extend my sincere appreciation for the excellent organization of the IHECON 2024 Conference. The attention to detail, thoughtful planning, and seamless coordination were evident throughout, making it a truly memorable experience.
