Elena Mattana is an Associate Professor at the Department of Economics and Business Economics, Aarhus University and a Fellow of the TrygFonden Child Research Centre. She holds a PhD in Economics from the Stockholm School of Economics (2013). After holding postdoctoral positions at the Université Catholique de Louvain (CORE) and the University of Chicago, Elena joined Aarhus University in 2017 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2022.
Elena's research interests lie in the fields of labor and education economics, in particular labor market access and competition, the design of study aid to tertiary education, and the determinants and consequences of school choice. Elena's research combines register and survey data with applied econometrics methods, including estimation of structural models.
