I seek to understand the relation between research and innovation, society and societal challenges, with focus on the role of funding in promoting research and its impacts. Examples of current work are tracing the process from funded research to innovation and societal impact, the role of funding for risk-taking in science, and the role of leadership and governance relations for missions-oriented research centers.
