I work on 19th century literature, culture, science and ecology. My work is based on recent ecocritical theories of historiography in light of the Anthropocene and climate change. I have written about Anthropocene Literary History in Litteratur og idéhistorie and Weird Literary History in Passage 90: Planeten.

My thesis Fictions of Climate at the Fin de Siècle examines climate fictions from the late 19th century. Although hitherto underexamined, in a period of climatic variability and atmospheric pollution, a number of authors (Jules Verne, H. G. Wells, Rokeya Hossain) begin to imagine fictional spaces where humans can tailor the climate to suit their unique needs. My project provides, then, a literary history of anthropogenic climate.
I have experience in organizing, lecturing and grading in the course Periodestudie: Fin de siècle. The syllabus has included foci on naturalism, New Imperialism and New Woman, but also the "new" anthropogenic environments of the period: the underground, the atmosphere, and the planet. Focus has primarily been on writers such as Émile Zola, Joseph Conrad, Charlotte Perkins Gilman, M. P. Shiel and Helga Johansen.
I am a longtime writer for the literary magazine Standart. I was guest-editor of Passage 90: Planeten, published in January 2024. In December 2022, I published Krisetider, my translation of French philosopher Michel Serres' Temps des crises (2009).
