I specialize in conducting simulations and optimization studies to design and develop indoor vertical farming systems. My primary research interests revolve around exploring key aspects in vertical farming, particularly in the contexts of energy consumption, and the design and control specific to air distribution systems. I also have a strong interest in the integration of Food-Energy systems and the intricate interrelationships that exist within this domain.
I have teaching responsiblities on courses related to energy generation and consumption where I present to master students topics about electricity market structures and policies as well as the application of mathematical optimization for energy system planning and operation. I also talk about vertical farming (also known as plant factories with artifical light) on the demand side of the energy sector and their potential to address increasing challenges within the agricultural sector through sector coupling.
