Mads P. Sørensen is a Professor at the Danish Centre for Studies in Research and Research Policy at Aarhus University. His current research focuses on Social Theory and Research on Research, including Research Integrity, Research Ethics, and Research Policy. His research seeks to contribute to a better understanding of the research ecosystem, and he continues to engage in international collaborative projects that address pressing integrity and ethical challenges in academia.
Mads has been awarded multiple national and international research grants, and his research leadership experience includes successful coordination and leadership roles in major Horizon Europe and Horizon 2020 projects, such as SOPs4RI and HYBRIDA, focusing on enhancing research integrity and embedding ethical considerations in scientific advancements.
He has conducted evaluations and commissioned studies for both national and international institutions. He often works in interdisciplinary projects, and he specializes in qualitative methods, including individual and focus group interviews and expert workshops. Mads has taught a wide range of subjects, including social theory and the evolution of political and economic thought. He is actively involved in PhD supervision and mentoring of early-career researchers. His previous research includes studies on political consumerism, the democratic public sphere, and the history of political and economic ideas.
