I am a philosopher working on a range of issues concerning ontology, philosophy of biology, philosophy of social science and political philosophy. I also try to find a synthesis between my ideas in these different areas as can be seen in my research monograph, The Epistemology and Morality of Human Kinds (Routledge, Focus in Philosophy series) (2021).
I am currently Associate Professor at the Department of Political Science at Aarhus University. I am also an affiliated scholar of the History and Philosophy of Science department, Cambridge University.
I recently concluded a 4-year Sapere Aude Research leader grant, funded by the Independent Research council in Denmark (until December 2023). The project investigated what a historical/reproductive accounts of membership can tell us about the basis for group rights (e.g. affirmative action, minority rights). Do read more about it on our website or in this interview. Along with the excellent Caterina Marchionni (Helsinki) and Julie Zahle (Bergen), I received an exploratory workshop grant for the Nordic research councils to probe types of reactivity in the human sciences that ran 2019-2022. I highly recommend the Topical Collection we jointly edited for the European Journal for the Philosophy of Science.
